Hello Sun

Finally the sun came out today!  (Cue singing angels!) It was a sizzlin' 34 degrees so we decided it would be a great time to head out and play in the snow.  We've had snow here for quite a while, but it has really been too cold to stay out for long, so we couldn't pass up this golden opportunity.
My favorite shot of the day.  Total concentration and preparation.

A pretty good action shot.

Always some rough housing and wrestling when these two play together.  This is just one reason I choose to hold the camera.
Thank you for coming out to visit us today, sun.  We needed you.  And if you're up to it, we would love seeing you tomorrow too.  And the day after that...

Peanutbutter Puppy Poppers

Nate saw some kids making homemade dog treats on one of his shows.  So, he has been asking to make some treats for Alaska.  Yesturday daddy had to work, so we decided to find a recipe and make some treats.  We made Peanutbutter Puppy Poppers and Alaska LOVES them.  What dog wouldn't love some peanutbutter, milk and flour mixed together?  We decided to use heart cutouts 'cause we love our Alaska doggie.  And we cut out a few dogs as well.

We also made some Chocolate chip cookies treats for the humans in the house.  YUMMO!

Layers, Library, and Lazy

This weekend was full of L words.  It has been so cold here that I have been bundling up in layers all weekend.  2 pairs of socks. 2 shirts + 1 jacket= 3 layers on top.  And this is what I was wearing inside, just to stay warm in my own house.  I'm sure ready for this lousy weather to go.

On Saturday afternoon we decided to take Nate to the library.  It was something to do that didn't take money and we needed some books to read, too.  It turned out to be more than we bargined for.  When we first walked into the library, I saw the all too familiar uneasy look in Nate's eyes.  Then, I turned around and he was gone...heading for the exit.  Jeff had to carry him into the media center where we finally convinced him to stay because we were looking for him a new movie to watch.  After we found a new Thomas the Train and a new Tinkerbell, he was ready to go home.  "Go home and watch my new movies, now, Mommy".  So we decided to take him to the children's section in hopes that looking for new books might spark his interest.  He wouldn't even go in.  He found a computer by the door and stayed there for the next half hour (refusing to put the computer headphones on his head).  Needless to say it was somewhat of a frustrating trip.  We finally got him to go into the children's section right before we left, but  I think a reminder trip to the library will be in our future soon.

Sunday's L day stood for lazy (and a little laundry, too).  With the frigid weather outside and 2 NFL championship football games on to watch, it seemed like a great day to pile on some layers, curl up on the couch and watch some football.  Sometimes you just need those lazy days.  Don't worry, I did manage to cook some food for the family and do a few loads of laundry.  I'm rarely lazy for and ENTIRE day :)

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

The temperature on the thermometer read -1 this morning...without windchill.  Combine that with the 5+ inches of snow we got on Thursday and we definitely have a winter wonderland here in Ohio.  It is no secret that I do not like snow.  And I probably dislike cold even more, so really, I'm about done with this whole winter in Ohio thing.  Time for warmer days, green grass and more daylight hours for me.  The only upside was the snow day we got off school on Friday.  But at this point, I'd gladly go to school if all this cold and snow would just go away.

Roller Rink

Today we decided to take Nate roller skating.  In Sunbury there is this little skating rink that has to have been there for at least 50 years.  When we walked in I could tell Nate was apprehensive.  But, he let me put on his skates. ( the kind that you put over you shoes).  He tried to stand up once and almost bit the dust.  His feet kept sliding out from underneath him.  That was it.  In less than 3 minutes flat he was done with that place.  He demanded that I take off his skates.  Then he was ready to go home.  I told him that Daddy wanted to skate for awhile because Daddy likes skating.  I reassured him that we could just watch.  He half laid-half crouched down on the bench, hiding his face every few minutes.  I think he was somehow thinking that he would have to skate if he could see the other skaters.  It was the weirdest experience.  I figured he would be a little scared, but this reaction was totally unexpected.  Jeff on the other hand was a roller maniac.  Just look at him go!

Buddies

Nate loves his little sissy.  Well, technically she is his big sissy,  but she is the littler of the two big sissy's, so she is little sissy.  They are buddies.  He loves to watch her play her video game.  When she is playing, he camps out next to her and studies her and can not be disturbed.  He does not allow his parents in the room when he and sissy are playing their game.  It's ok.  I like being the silent observer and watching from the door.  Smiling.

Today

Today I got to take Nate to preschool.  He looked so grown up, not to mention adorable, with his little Lightning McQueen backpack.  When I went to pick him up, he had a huge grin on his face.
"I had a wonderful day at school today, mom" he said.  "I have a lot of work to do".
"Wow!  You do?"
"Yep."
And with that he hopped into the car toting that adorable little backpack.
So proud of all the progress he is making.

Holy Goats ??

Holy Goats?  You are probably thinking why one would name their blog Holy Goats?  I would be thinking the same thing if I weren't me.  Holy Goats. Why? 1. Because I needed a name for this new blog and I wanted something out of the ordinary.  You know, not just "The Addy's" or something mundane like that.  2.  I wanted something that would represent what I am thinking about this blog.  (I want a place to document the happenings in the life of my family, but also to record our hopes and dreams).  3.  Here's where the hopes and dreams part comes in.... It is our hope one day to buy a little piece of land, build a house, and have a little farm.  We really like this land on this road called Blue Church Road.  It is our hope one day to have some goats and probably some chickens. It is our thinking that we would name our little farm "The Holy Goats of Blue Church Road".  Crafty, isn't it? And if this dream comes true one day, I hope I will be sharing lots of experiences from the Holy Goats of Blue Church Road farm.  And so... Holy Goats was born.
